The Staycation Series: WTR and Sparkman Wharf

Image
Hello beautiful people! I promised I'd be back with The Staycation Series: Part Four and here it is!  Let's get this party started with some more fun, affordable activities in the Tampa Bay area!  First, there’s WTR Pool & Grill . It’s a venue at Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa , featuring poolside lounging and dining with private cabanas, a full bar, and a DJ overlooking Tampa Bay. It’s along the Courtney Campbell Causeway near south Rocky Point, about 15 minutes from downtown Tampa. It reminds me of a pool party in Las Vegas at Tao at the Venetian or something— But in Tampa! It's a lot of fun and gets prettyyyy crowded. (I took these pictures before all the fun got started) On the weekends, they charge a cover fee… But usually only $10-20. There are even lockers available for rent so that your belongings are secure while you're in the pool. This was all pre-Cornonavirus, of course.  After that, take a stroll around Sparkman Wh...

The Staycation Series: Three Sisters Springs

Image
Hiiiiii friends!! I’m back with another installment of  The Staycation Series ! I began this series three years ago… But I’ve failed horribly at documenting the fun things to do here in Florida. There’s so much to do all year round! It would be a sin not to take advantage of what I have right in front of me.  AND  since Ms. Rona (the Coronavirus) swooped in and ruined all of our international summer travel plans, I’ve got some fun activities in Florida… That aren’t the typical day at Disney World! But, if you want to check out Disneyland in California once they open, I got you, boo! There's a  blog post  for that too! ;)  Now, back to Florida... If you live out of state and want to brave the germs, you can find an affordable flight OR take a road trip down to the sunshine state without breaking the bank.  Last year, my best friend, Jaylen, her boyfriend, Ryan (Remember them from my Bermuda trip blog post ?), and I went on...

A Very Special Farm

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I've had so much going on lately. First, I took a road trip across the country for two weeks. Then there was Hurricane Irma and of course my flight kept getting cancelled so I was stuck in Maryland MUCH longer than expected. Then when I finally made it back to Florida, my mom came to visit and stayed for a week and most recently, I started a new job. So, I've got tons to catch you guys up on! In the meantime, I have something short and sweet to share! Yesterday, for "Change the Planet Week," my entire office and I went to volunteer at Quantum Leap Farm, Inc. in Odessa, FL. It's a beautiful 20-acre location with 14 horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, cats, and a dog. They offer therapy to children, adults, and veterans from ages 2-92, who have mental, physical, or behavioral disabilities at no additional cost to the patients. As most of you know, community service and volunteer work...

Hurricane Preparedness Master List

Image
For those of you who don’t know, I currently reside in Tampa, Florida and there is a massive, catastrophic hurricane named Irma headed straight for it. Fortunately, I was in California (look out for the blog posts coming soon) when the hurricane began to gain strength. I then decided to cancel my flight back to Tampa and extend my stay at home in Maryland just to be safe. It’s been absolutely nerve-wracking sitting in front of the news watching this monster set its eye on my home knowing that my loved ones are still in harm’s way. I’m in constant contact with my friends and everyone is all set for now. Praying for their continued safety. For those who are still in Florida and those who may have no idea how to prepare for a hurricane, here is a bunch of useful information that I’ve compiled for both before and after the hurricane hits. HAVE AN EVACUATION PLAN If your home is in a suggested evacuation zone, I suggest you get moving. Decide where you’re going t...
