How to Throw the Ultimate Galentine's Day Celebration
Hey fam!
It’s been far too long! I’ve had soooo much going on
between work, travel, grad school, and trying to have some sort of a social
life… Oh, and I bought a whole house in August! Very adult of me, I know. Lol! BUT
I’m back! I have a little bit of free time before I start traveling again this
spring, so I wanted to catch you all up on my life. I have about TEN blog posts
that I need to write, edit, and publish so I’ll be cranking them out as fast as
I can.
The first on my list is my 2nd Annual
Galentine’s Day Celebration!
While Valentine’s Day is a holiday when everyone shows
affection for their loved ones, Galentine’s Day is a celebration of love
strictly for my girlfriends. It’s a reason for my friends and I to get dressed up
(or down), have some drinks, and eat lots of chocolate.
I LOVE decorating and hosting parties. You don’t have
to spend a ton of money to make your venue look festive and fun. I got a
majority of my decorations from the dollar store and everything else was
purchased at Marshall’s. Here's a quick and easy rundown of how to throw the ultimate Galentine's Day Celebration!
In the kitchen, I draped my 5’ table with a white tablecloth
and topped it with fake rose petals, a bouquet of red roses (Thanks, Dad!) and
red candles. And how adorable are the lip-shaped napkins? (Marshalls!)
It wasn’t a dinner party so I just asked everyone to
bring something for us to nibble on/drink. We had meatballs, buffalo chicken
dip, fruit, and this gorgeous charcuterie platter from Graze Away Florida. (Thanks,
Kali!) If you’re in the Tampa Bay Area, her Instagram is @grazeawayflorida. It
was so delicious!
I used my counter top as the bar. As I previously
mentioned, I love hosting parties so I have an assortment of wine glasses, an
ice bucket, and a punch bowl that I insist on pulling out for every single
function. Lol. The adorable love and heart straws were purchased at Marshall’s.
The signature drink was my “Love My Ladies Berry Much”
punch and it was so tasty! I make it every year and it’s super easy. A bottle
of Simply Raspberry Lemonade, a bottle of sprite, raspberry sorbet, and frozen raspberries.
AND it tastes great with or without alcohol.
I used my dining room table for the desserts. I placed
a bouquet of white roses and tea light candles in the middle and scattered pink
hearts atop a red tablecloth. I inherited the pink depression glass platters
from my mom’s china cabinet in Baltimore. (Thanks, Mom!) The glitter cake
stands and the “I love you” plates are also from Marshall’s. We had pink chocolate-covered
pretzels, Hershey's kisses, and heart-shaped EVERYTHING: brownies, rice krispie treats, cookies, and donuts.
I scattered rose petals and heart-shaped balloons
throughout the rest of the house and hung some heart-shaped lights in the powder
room and little nic nacs from the doors and at the bottom of the steps. I also planned to have red heart-shaped balloons floating around... But the dollar store ran out of helium so that was a bust. LOL.
For the photo booth, I hung gold foil fringe and a
love balloon on the wall and had a variety of props to choose from.
Heart-shaped headbands, heart-shaped sunglasses, heart-shaped beaded necklaces,
and a pink feather boa to jazz it up!
We had such a fun night! It was a small-ish gathering—11
of us total. We ate. We drank. We laughed til we had tears running down our
faces and our stomachs hurt. We had girl talk, listened to a carefully curated
Galentine’s Day playlist, played Cards Against Humanity, and I even did an
entire musical performance (Typical Amanee). Lol.
This was my second Galentine’s Day party and I plan to
do it every year going forward. It’s corny and cheesy and
I absolutely LOVE everything about it! I’m a girl’s girl. Sisterhood is so
important to me and I celebrate it whenever I can.
Have you ever hosted/been to a Galentine’s Day party? What
are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments! (Look at these cute "Be my Galentine" socks that I found at... You guessed it, Marshall's!!)
Until next time, friends!
(Which won’t be another 6 months, I promise!!!)
-A.
