#BlackGirlChat: Positive Affirmations

It's extremely important to put yourself first, give yourself a little self-love, and to always encourage yourself.

According to Mind Tools, "Affirmations are positive, specific statements that help you to overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts. They help you visualize and believe in what you're affirming to yourself, helping you to make positive changes to your life and career."

A few weeks ago, I asked a few of my incredible, talented friends what their affirmations were.

I chose this specific group of women because they inspire me day in and day out.

They are ALWAYS encouraging and supportive.

They're actually some of the biggest supporters of this blog and I'm just so blessed to have them in my corner.

They come from all walks of life and all over the world.

They are teachers, nurses, college administrators, entrepreneurs, future lawyers, dreamers, and doers.

Some are AMAZING single mothers. Some don't have kids yet.

Some have bachelors and masters degrees. Some are still in school.

They are strong black women. They are the future.

AND, they're all only 20-something. Can you imagine the world with us in charge?

Here's what they said:

My child is happy, healthy, and thriving.
I am worthy and my heart is open to receiving love.
I choose happiness, success and abundance in my life.

You got it. These are small things to a giant.

My boyfriend actually said this to me. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed or complaining, I'll say this and it shows me that I am strong and can do anything I try to do.

Each day is another chance to reach my goals.
I am intelligent, charismatic, powerful, and beautiful, and stress doesn't go with my outfit.

Encajo.

It's a Spanish word meaning, I belong, I fit in, I deserve to be here.

-Sameera Jordan

You are strong. You are intelligent. You are beautiful. You radiate positivity.

Whenever I'm feeling discouraged or need a pick me up, I stand in front of the mirror and say those 12 words. It instantly makes me feel better. Then I'm back to taking over the world!
