While Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of Black people throughout history, it is important to note that Black History IS U.S. history. AND that there’s so much more to Black history than Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. Don’t get me wrong. MLK and Ms. Parks were trailblazers and it is important to learn about their contributions… But there are hundreds and thousands of other people and events that also deserve praise and celebration— Not just the ones we learn about in school and certainly not just in the month of February, but all year round. Hey fam! It’s been far too long! I’ve had soooo much going on between work, travel, grad school, and trying to have some sort of a social life… Oh, and I bought a whole house in August! Very adult of me, I know. Lol! BUT I’m back! I have a little bit of free time before I start traveling again this spring, so I wanted to catch you all up on my life. I have about TEN blog posts that I need to write, edit, and publish so I’ll be cranking them out as fast as I can. The first on my list is my 2 nd Annual Galentine’s Day Celebration! While Valentine’s Day is a holiday when everyone shows affection for their loved ones, Galentine’s Day is a celebration of love strictly for my girlfriends. It’s a reason for my friends and I to get dressed up (or down), have some drinks, and eat lots of chocolate. I LOVE decorating and hosting parties.
